Style Statement Staples by SF designer Gelareh Alam

This is no ordinary designer, or ordinary designs. Gelareh Alams designs are simply extraordinary.

And that is an understatement.

Let me first start by telling you a story about Gelareh. This woman born and raised in Iran came to the USA in search of being able to express herself and create a new world for herself. She came to this country not even knowing the language, already having a degree in psychology, accomplished being a painter and sculptor, she applied all of these talents, got into design school and finished her bachelors in Design all within 3 years. The result an astounding collection of handcrafted leather jackets, pants and dresses.

Her designs are unique as she uses many texture treatments within the garments such as : hand embroidery, shaped leather, layering, draping and metal work.

Gelareh’s inspiration for her Fall 2012 collection was inspired by butterflies, as seen in the picture above.When you try on a garment it fits snug and you feel as though you are enveloped in a luxury cocoon. The butterfly also represents freedom.

Tonight she will be showing 10 pieces from her Fall 2012 Collection at the Bay Fashion Haute Couture Launch Party at the Clift Hotel. This event is sponsored by Ferrari and show begins at 10pm. If you want to see a star, be sure to see the show.

Her leather jackets are the best style statement items you can add to your wardrobe. The shoes in the picture below are also designed by her. There is so much attention to detail in her work. And yes she makes the leather jackets for men too!

This designer has the world ahead of her and I”m sure we will be seeing her designs coveted by celebrities in the very near future.
