A must read memoir for all of you fashionistas, from Grace Coddington. Do you not know Grace? She was the star of the movie The September Issue. She started her career as a model in London, then after a car accident was employed as a Junior Editor. After nineteen years as Photo Editor with British Vogue, she moved to New York to work for Calvin Klein. In July 1988, she joined Anna Wintour at American Vogue, where she remains the magazine’s creative director. She is one of my favorite fashion stylists. Her trademark is creating fashion narratives.
Pick up any issue of Vogue and look at the best editorial spreads and you will see her name on it. She works with the most amazing photographers and creates imaginative scenes that are unforgettable. She is a true stylist that researches and works so hard to get that perfect shot.
“He taught me the art of travelling, which means never closing your eyes in case you miss something. We’d get up at five and drive round on recce to see what inspired us. The approach is so different now. Photographers don’t look out the window: they want to see a location book, and everything is done on computers.”
She is a true professional and a fashion legend.
I couldn’t put the book down. There is no Vogue without Grace.
So if you have some time treat yourself to this amazing memoir.
