Yesterday, I spent the early afternoon at the annual Arthritis Foundation Northern California Chapter fashion show, held at the Four Seasons Hotel. This event is one not to be missed. It is such an important cause and the committee and people who pull together each year, make this a must on your fashion calendar.
Established in 1948, the Arthritis Foundation is a volunteer-driven, national nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for more than 120 forms of arthritis. The Northern California Chapter serves 16 counties from the Oregon border to Carmel.
There are over 2 million children and adults living with arthritis in Northern California alone.
I have to say the committee goes all out to make this such a special event that has women dress up at 11am and put their best foot forward.
Each year they choose a new designer to show, and this year they chose SF bay area designer Julia Panciroli for the clothing and Tiffany was the sponsor for jewelry and handbags.
Julia Panciroli featured a wide range of fashion from tailored suiting with strong feminine details, to the little black dress, cocktail attire, black tie, hats and ending with bridal. I would call her design aesthetic sweet chic.
Personally, I love the peplum detailing, the strong tailoring with accents such as inverted pleating and ruffles.
The above was one of my favorite looks, with the sweet cropped jacket with open neckline.
As we know from watching the presidential debates, hot pink is thee color for cocktail attire right now.
I love San Francisco for fashion, as there is always someone new on the scene that is working at a craft such as couture behind closed doors. San Francisco is filled with these independent designers that need exposure and support from different organizations to stay working their craft.
