Fashion Illustration is one of the most labor intensive and forgotten arts. Since it’s Labor day weekend ( and almost NYC fashion week) , I thought to kick it off with some inspiration, featuring my all time favorite fashion illustrator. In fashion education, they don’t really push you to become a fashion illustrator. Yes they can teach you the technical things you need to know, but it’s innate. A student either has this gift or they do not. And Danny Roberts is one of those gems. Young, creative and super talented.
I love pen and paper goods. I collect both. I also collect fashion illustration. This is an art form that is rare to find these days. I encourage you to support the young illustrators out there, as they literally do this work because they love it.
Danny Roberts, now only his 20’s and graduated from Academy of Art here in San Francisco. Danny loves the fashion industry and illustrates certain collections and models.
He has been really busy in New York lately with 2 projects: IMG and Tiffany & CO.
NYC fashion week is upon us and he was commissioned to create the IMG model show package for S/S2013 collections, featuring all the IMG models. Here are some pics of the project:
Tiffany&Co hired him to create a Mural while they were under construction down in Soho. This is just fabulous! And here’s a glimpse of him working.
Here are up close shots of part of the mural:
And here is the final view of the overall mural-I’d love to have this in my house!!!
He’s also known for creating gorgeous magazine covers, here is one example from Vogue Nippon:
It makes me wish fashion magazines would go back to illustration on their covers instead of photos with celebrities all the time. Wouldn’t that be more inspirational?
There are just so many I”ve put a lot of them together in the gallery below.
A lot of them you can purchase on his Etsy shop.

Aren’t you in love with his work?
Until we speak chic again,
